Niet genezen van het Bart-syndroom…

Zondagmorgen de zesde van de zesde, om half negen voel ik de warmte mij omarmen als ik buitenkom om mijn weg te vervolgen richting het Friese noorden. Na een rustige reis van anderhalf uur van mentale voorbereiding kom ik bij een kraan aan die langs de weg staat opgesteld. Het blijkt op twee na de laatste hindernis. Geen kinderspeeltoestel zo te zien. Gauw doorrijden en mezelf niet gek laten maken.
Auto neerzetten, startnummer halen, bekenden begroeten, omkleden en ‘inbewegen’. De temperatuur is voor mij te hoog om echt in te lopen.
De TSC’ers vertrekken als eerste en om 10u55 is de eerste groep RUCkers aan de beurt.
De spanning stijgt. Na twintig!! minuten komen de eerste TSC na een rondje van zo’n drie kilometer weer langs start/finish. Timo ligt voor in het veld. Ik kan nog net een paar foto’s van hem schieten.

Even later in het startvak met alleen maar afgetrainde bikkels, worden de laatste grapjes over en weer gemaakt, dit ter onderdrukking van de zenuwen die bij menigeen door het lichaam gieren…. Elkaar succes wensen hoort daar ook bij.
Het aftellen begint en dan klinkt het startschot en weg zijn de strijders. Na amper 100 meter gelijk het water in. Die Friezen laten er geen gras over groeien. Direct al met een nat pak starten, dat beloofd wat…
De route is ten opzichte van voorgaande jaren flink aangepast. Dit ten goede van het geheel. Een prachtige omgeving veel bos met daarin de nodige armspierkillers eb veel loopstukken. Veel lastige swingovers vanuit redelijk lange en slappe apenhangen.
Ik zal jullie de details verder besparen. Bart en ik gingen gelijk op tot aan een half uur voor de finish. Toen stak het BartSyndroom zijn kop weer op. Ik moest Bart laten gaan omdat ik het gat dat hij had geslagen niet meer kon dichten. In het kreupelhouten bos, waar ik zelf bijna kreupel werd, werd de afstand tussen ons alleen maar groter daar ik ook met mijzelf in gevecht was. Ik kon mezelf er niet toe zetten het bos in looppas te doorkruisen. Voor mijn gevoel liet alles mij in de steek. Ik betrapte mijzelf erop hardop te praten en liep te schelden….. Ik kon het gewoonweg niet verdragen Bart te moeten loslaten.
Tijdens dit seizoen de laatste keer dat ik de grote concurrent ‘Big Bart’ mijn ondergeschikte kon maken. Hier heb ik best wel veel voor over gehad, veel meer kilometers gemaakt in de voorbereiding, bergen beklommen, woestijnen doorkruist, al snorkelend het lek proberen te dichten bij de Golf van Mexico. Alles voor niets en zonder succes.
The Big Bart had bijna TIEN minuten voor mij de koebel geluid… Een diepe kniebuiging was hetgeen mij restte na de luiden diezelfde koebel. Proficiat! Ive bedankt voor je zeer belangrijke bijdrage tijdens deze prestatie. Alleen zo jammer dat Bart zich extra gesterkt voelde door de jouw motiverende uitingen die eigenlijk voor mij bedoelt waren J
Ik geef nooit op!!!! Er komt een dag en dan ben ik aan de beurt Bart.
Nu mijn wonden likken en ervoor zorgen dat die dag snel nadert.
Er waren nog meer Fitters (vrijwillig) naar het hoge noorden afgereisd om zichzelf te pijnigen. Waaronder zoals ik eerder zei Timo (TSC), die een goede run heeft gelopen en tijdens de onderlinge strijd tussen Bart en mij ff voorbij kwam vliegen. Als ik op z’n rug was meegelift had ie daar waarschijnlijk niets van gemerkt en was ik Bart voorgebleven J
Ook Mark van Zejil, Peter van Aartsen, Mark Spruit, Michel Schuurman maakten deel uit van de grote groep SportSado’s. Mark van Z. en Peter hebben de finish met behoud van het rode ‘lifelint’ gehaald. Gefeliciteerd.
Echter, Michel en Mark Spruit waren niet zo fortuinlijk dit keer. In de eindhindernis was het voor Mark helemaal pijnlijk omdat hij na ettelijke pogingen en een armmassage van mij, de handdoek in de ring moest gooien en zonder bandje het strijdveld moest verlaten.
De organisatie was weer erg profi geregeld. Veel drinkposten die erg welkom waren. Goede en duidelijke instructies (vaak met ondertiteling) door de vriendelijk juryleden. De route verkeerd lopen was nagenoeg onmogelijk gemaakt door goed aflinten en bewijzeren.
Kortom: Een mooi strijdtoneel in het hoge Noorden…. (Zo is het en niet anders, want als het anders was was het niet zo J)
