Niet genezen van het Bart-syndroom…

Zondagmorgen de zesde van de zesde, om half negen voel ik de warmte mij omarmen als ik buitenkom om mijn weg te vervolgen richting het Friese noorden. Na een rustige reis van anderhalf uur van mentale voorbereiding kom ik bij een kraan aan die langs de weg staat opgesteld. Het blijkt op twee na de laatste hindernis. Geen kinderspeeltoestel zo te zien. Gauw doorrijden en mezelf niet gek laten maken. 

Auto neerzetten, startnummer halen, bekenden begroeten, omkleden en ‘inbewegen’. De temperatuur is voor mij te hoog om echt in te lopen. 

De TSC’ers vertrekken als eerste en om 10u55 is de eerste groep RUCkers aan de beurt. 

De spanning stijgt. Na twintig!! minuten komen de eerste TSC na een rondje van zo’n drie kilometer weer langs start/finish. Timo ligt voor in het veld. Ik kan nog net een paar foto’s van hem schieten.

Winterswijk 2010

Concurrentie…

Dit is alweer de 10e editie van de UBCRO survivalrun en is vandaag voor het eerst rond het Hilgelo, de recreatieplas bij Sevinks mölle tussen Winterswijk en Meddo. 

Zondag 16 mei begint mooi zonovergoten en dat zal ook de hele dag zo blijven. In de auto voel ik de warmte van de zon en dat vraagt zelfs om enige verkoeling. ARKO (Alle Ramen Kunnen Open voor de niet techneuten onder ons). 

Aangekomen melden wij (Ive en ik) ons en nemen onze shirts in ontvangst. Ach, mooi grijs is niet lelijk… Er valt wel wat druk bij mij weg. Normaliter moet ik een bandje om, maar nu dus niet. Ik kan dus ongestraft de hindernissen dusdanig nemen zonder dat een jurylid mij het leven zuur maakt.. Heerlijk!

Marten, Han en Ries zijn ook aanwezig. Helaas was Marten te laat (openbaar vervoer in het oosten gaat nou eenmaal niet zo frequent) waardoor hij niet in zijn eigen startgroep meekon en daardoor een podiumplek aan zijn neus voorbij zag gaan. Om niet helemaal voor niets te zijn gekomen heeft ook hij de recreatieve run gedaan. Jammer dat je niet met ons mee kon lopen Marten. 

Even terug naar de start. Deze komt naderbij en ik merk aan Ive dat ze flinke dosis gezonde spanning met zich meedraagt (of moet ik gewoon zeggen dat ze erg zenuwachtig was?). Dit wordt haar vuurdoop, haar allereerste survivalrun. Hier heeft ze maanden naartoe gewerkt. Weer heel wat anders dan die wedstrijden waar ze al dat asfalt voor ontbijt neemt. Voor het eerst gaat ze meemaken waar ze nou echt voor traint. Waarom we altijd ‘gezellig’ op en rond de baan aant spelen zijn… Nu maar hopen dat mijn begeleiding en aanwijzingen van de afgelopen maanden hun vruchten gaan afwerpen. Voor mij dus net zo spannend… 

Een paar seconden voor 11u15 als het startschot klinkt , wens ik Ive succes en vooral veel plezier… 

Een schitterend parcours uitgezet in de wijde natuur en een goed organisatie en goed gefaciliteerd. Een absolute aanrader voor kinderen en voor de eerste kennismaking met het Survivalrunnen. Veel variatie in het parcours. Relatief veel doorwadingen die soms tot aan de middel kwamen. Daarbij was het water niet zo aangenaam als het weer zelf. Vooral de eerste kennismaking met het water is niet echt aangenaam en gelijk diep. Dat was ook te merken aan de oerkreet die Ive slaakte toen ze de eerste keer in aanraking kwam met het water.

De hindernissen zijn divers en heel erg goed te doen. Het enige nadeel dat ik ervoer was dat er ontzettend veel, met name kleine kinderen, in de hindernissen hingen waar je op moest wachten. Je wilt toch niet op je geweten hebben dat je per ongeluk een kind op de vingers trapt? Maar dat krijg je erbij als je recreatief loopt. 

Het lopen gaat goed en Ive gaat goed door de hindernissen heen en luistert goed naar mijn aanwijzingen. Na zo’n 6 km gaan haar onderarmen wat protesteren. Ze heeft het wat moeilijk, maar vecht door. Omdat ik haar ‘jaag’ kan ze mij wel op de bodem van het meer dumpen. Grapjes maken moet ik dan ook maar even niet meer… 

Maar dan komt de eindhindernis om de bocht. Ze beseft het nog niet helemaal en gaat als een doorgewinterde TSCer over de laatste hindernis heen en zelfs nog vóór mij over de finish. Die kan ik dus weer in m’n zak steken… 

Een snelle rekensom vertelt dat wij er 1 uur en 9 minuten over hebben gedaan. Zeer knappe prestatie voor een eerste run én zonder enige kleerscheuren, spierverrekkingen, opengehaalde handen, verloren schoenen, gekrenkte ego of wat dan ook. Proficiat! 

Niet alleen voor Bart moet ik hard trainen om hem dit seizoen voor te zijn in het Algemeen Klassement. 

Vanaf vandaag is er nieuw gevaar…. Het gevaar gaat gehuld in Ive..

Den Helder-Maastrichtloop

Dag loopvriendjes en vriendinnetjes,

Het heeft even geduurd maar ik had niet eerder de gelegenheid dan dit weekend; het filmpje van ons avontuur is af.
We zullen er vast geen Oscar mee winnen maar ik denk dat het een leuke impressie geeft van de DHM loop 2010. De clip is 11 minuten geworden en gaat helaas alleen over de mensen in ‘onze auto’ want de anderen heb ik zelden kunnen spreken en filmen. Überhaupt was de combi meelopen en filmen niet echt een succes, blijkt ook de beperkte kwaliteit van het materiaal maar ach, voor een amateur is het denk ik best leuk geworden.
